Xalapa

Xalapa (also known as 'Jalapa') is the capital city of the state of Veracruz, in Eastern Mexico.

At the year 2005 census, the municipality reported a population of 413,196.

Its name comes from the Nahuatl roots "Xalli" (sand) and "Apan" (water place), which approximately means "water spring in the sand."
